NATIONAL boxing coach Kent Musa has described the shift of the Bombers’ camp to Nabugabo in Masaka as a blessing.

“The camp is perfect. We are not asking for more,” said Musa about the secluded camp on the shores of Lake Nabugabo.

The boxers are preparing for the July 10 to 23 All Africa Games in Algeria. Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation is investing heavily in the games because they are also a qualifier for the Beijing Olympics next year.

“As we speak the boys are swimming. That will be followed by a good meal away from the city disturbances. There is no reason why one can’t be focused,” explained Musa.

The Nabugabo camp run by Church of Uganda has a serene setting compared to the Lugogo hostel where the boxers usually train from, before major events.
The new camp was professional boxer Justin Juuko’s idea. That’s where Juuko sharpens up for fights.

Kilembe, Nsamizi and Kabala are some of the other areas outside Kampala where the national team has camped before.

Meanwhile, all local associations that will feature in Algiers will be briefed at 2.00pm today by Uganda Olympic Committee president Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso at the International Conference Center.
