UNICEF donates cars to Pader district

UNICEF has donated three Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles worth $90,000 (about sh150m) to Pader district to support children and women’s programmes.

UNICEF has donated three Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles worth $90,000 (about sh150m) to Pader district to support children and women’s programmes.

Ismail Olushola, the UNICEF representative for Kitgum and Pader districts, handed over the vehicles to the Pader LC5 chairman, Peter Odok W’Oceng, at the district headquarters last week.

Olushola said UNICEF would also support the construction of houses for teachers in the district.

“The houses will benefit the pupils since the teachers will be available all the time. They will not have to travel long distances to school.”

He added that they would support efforts to improve sanitation.

“We shall build toilets and have an improved water supply system in the schools.”

Present were Charles Otai , the Pader district chief administrative Officer, Charles Amone, the district education officer, Eng. Francis Otto, the water officer, Nicholas Lakwonyero, the UNICEF emergency officer, Stephen Wandera and Chiharu all senior officers with UNICEF.
