SOCIETY weddings do not get any better than this. Okay so what that last weekend Pastor Isaac Kiweweesi got married in a lavish ceremony that was deemed to be the wedding of the year. But cutting to the chase, the wedding of Daniel Mugenga to Shan Sekaziga was something else.

After the church ceremony at All Saints Cathedral, it was off to Speke Resort Munyonyo where the real bash happened.

The guest list was impressive enough — with the likes of ministers Hope Mwesigye, Sam Bitangaro, Godfrey Kirumira, security boss Leo Kyanda and his wife Judy, ‘Sir’ Richard Kaijuka, Amos Nzeyi, Juma Seiko, Edwin Karugire, Herbert Ntagboba, it had to be.

For the father of the groom, Tom Mugenga could hardly contain his joy. Throughout the evening, he kept on crossing tables just to make sure all the guests were having a good time. Simon Kaheru as master of ceremony did a sterling job in keeping everything together.

Kirumira’s and Bitangaro’s speeches were riddled with jokes but it was Nzeyi, the groom’s mother and the bride who put everything in perspective.

Nzeyi talked about taking Mugenga to State House to meet President Museveni while Mrs. Mugenga talked about the need to have God in one’s life.

The bride in an almost tearful state talked about how she woke up as a Sekaziga and was going to end the day as a Mugenga. She said she would do everything possible to make sure she is a good wife.

When it came to entertainment, Ragga Dee thrilled and because it was also the groom’s birthday, Peter Miles was on hand to make sure he did something special for Shan and Daniel.

But when it came to wedding gifts, the newly-weds need not think about where they are going to live for Mugenga did not give them cutlery, glasses or bedsheets.

He went over the top and gave them a house and a new car just to make sure they start off on the right foot. One guest, who could hardly contain his joy when he was served the wedding cake, said: “Shan, Daniel, we salute you!”
