CO-CURRICULA activities should be encouraged in schools as a tool in the upbringing of children, Namugongo Girls’ Boarding Primary School headteacher has said.

“We want all the children to participate in co- curricular activities because we get to discover more talents from them. I urge parents to encourage their children to participate in sports as well,” said Agnes Nakabugo during the music, dance and drama festival at the school playground last Saturday.

The school got a new board chairman, Andrew Maviiri, who replaced lawyer Pius Kawere who had served the board for over 30 years.

Pupils presented poems, folk-songs, local dances and plays for the guests and parents. The Catholic- founded school has over 1200 girls.

Parents were excited at the children's poem of the African Child as well as the fashion show, where the pupils depicted how decent people should dress in society.
