THE Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, has asked the local government state minister, Hope Mwesigye, to clarify on media reports stating that she referred to MPs from Kabale as ‘lumpens.’

This follows a complaint by Wilfred Niwagaba (Ndorwa East) against Mwesigye in Parliament yesterday.
Quoting an article published in the Orumuri, a Vernacular weekly sister paper to The New Vision recently, Niwagaba said this affected the integrity of Parliament and the vice-president.

He said the article referred to Prof. Gilbert Bukenya’s visit to Kigezi region organised by some MPs.
Henry Banyenzaki (Rubanda West) said Mwesigye had at one time while on air referred to MPs from Kabale as hooligans.

Mwesigye said she was disappointed by the accusations. “I was in Nebbi. I have just come back today (yesterday). I have not talked to anybody from the newspapers, ” she affirmed.
