SC Villa has welcomed the revised Kakungulu Cup quarter-finals fixtures, saying they are convenient to their Tusker Challenge Cup trip to Tanzania next week.

FUFA competitions committee secretary Moses Magogo admitted he had altered the fixtures to have Villa complete its quarter-final matches early.

“They believe the fixtures are good but I don’t know how they will go about it if they qualify for the semi-finals,” Magogo remarked.

Villa will leave for Dar es salaam after playing its quarter-final return leg against Police on July 24. The first leg is due this Saturday.

“The fixtures are convenient, we shall leave on July 25 and arrive in time for our first match,” Villa secretary Luyimbazi Mugalu stated.

Villa will kick-off its cup campaign July 29 against Tanzanian’s Young Africans, the day the Kakungulu Cup semi-finals get underway in Kampala.

Asked what they would do if they qualify for the semi-finals Luyimbazi said, “Why talk about that now? We shall cross the bridge when we get there.”

He was optimistic FUFA would allow Villa make the trip that was thrown into balance last week following accusations that the club wanted to hide its players during the transfer period.

The winner of the Tusker Lager sponsored event will bag $20,000 (sh32m), second placed $10,000 (sh16m) and the third $5000 (sh8m).

Meanwhile, the Super League winds up today with Express taking on Masaka at Wankulukuku and Police travelling to Iganga.

The competition committee will meet on Friday to decide on the aborted fixture between Mbale Heroes and Mukono at Mbale Municipal stadium due to a court order. Heroes contested the eligibility of FUFA organising the league.
