FIVE houses are to be won in Celtel’s sh1b promotion dubbed Karibu. Caeser Mloka, the marketing director, said the promotion is a build-up of the one they had last year in which one person, Albert Lutwama, won a house at the Akright Kakungulu Housing Estate.

“We felt the excitement shouldn’t just be for one person,” Mloka explained. Dan Kaboyo, the marketing manager – consumer said: “The promotion will run for 10 weeks with draws done every fortnight to select a winner of a house. The entries will be entered into a virtual system from which the draws will be conducted.”

Kaboyo said prepaid subscribers in Uganda are eligible to taking part in the promotion by dialling #100*. He said people who are not connected to Celtel have to acquire sim cards and there will be no contractual obligations attached to winning the house.

“You do as you please with your house,” Kaboyo said. One house is worth over sh135m and the rest valued at over sh80m. They are located at the Kakungulu estate off Entebbe Road. The estate is set to become the first satellite city in Uganda, once completed. It will have schools, shopping malls, hospitals, play grounds and leisure facilities.

Thousands of people will also win other prizes like phones, airtime, T-shirts and household items.
