SOCCER - Uganda dropped eight places to 99th in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA rankings following their 0-0 draw with Lesotho in the Nations Cup qualifiers. Lesotho, 145, improved by three places. Uganda rose to 91 after beating Africa giants Nigeria 2-1 in June jumping three places from their previous status. Nigeria is ranked 25, up seven places from their previous ranking.

SOCCER - Kampala Kids League came from behind twice to beat local side IFK Goteborg 4-2 to finish top of Group 4 in the Gothia boys U-15 tournament. Both teams had gleaned maximum points from their two games and both were fighting for top slot en route the knock out stage starting today.

HOCKEY - Uganda men’s hockey team lost their third Olympic qualifier to Kenya yesterday. Kenya blanked them 5-0. Uganda, who play Ghana today, earlier lost to Egypt and S. Africa.
