OMUKAMA Solomon Gafabusa Iguru has dragged Dott Services to court for allegedly trespassing on his piece of land in Hoima town.

Through his lawyers, Tumwesigye Baingana and Company Advocates, Iguru filed a petition at the Hoima Chief Magistrate’s Court claiming damages from the company for carrying out construction work on his land without permission.

Dots Services was contracted by Hoima town council to construct a sewer.
The Masindi Chief Magistrate’s Court recently issued an order stopping the sewer project following a petition by the Omukama.

Iguru’s principal private secretary, Yolamu Nsamba, said the land in Kiganda LC1 is part of the land reverted to the kingdom following the reinstatement of cultural institutions.

“The restitution No. 8 of 1993 rendered all the land titles acquired on that land after the abolition of kingdoms null and void. The statute is backed by a memorandum of understanding between the Government and the kingdom,” he said.

He added that the kingdom was not against the project but was opposed to the “disrespectful way of carrying out construction work on the Omukama’s land without his permission.”

He noted that the town council authorities maliciously relocated the sewer from its original site at the confluence of rivers Wambabya and Kiragura in the south of Hoima town to the Omukama’s land.
