SUBSTITUTE Jamil Kasiita’s late strike against Mutundwe Lions ensured KCC sail through to the Kakungulu Cup semi-finals at Nakivubo yesterday.

After struggling against Mutundwe that exhibited flair, Kasiita, who came in for injured Idd Sebalata, pounced on a loose ball to net the winner.

Mutundwe’s Simon Sserunkuuma missed a penalty with three minutes to time.

Meanwhile, Police will look to ride the momentum of their first leg 2-2 draw with SC Villa when they face-off in the return leg at Nakivubo today.

Two strikes by Noordin Juuko and Tony Mawejje helped coach Sam Timbe’s side to priceless away goals that will provide a firm foundation for their attempt to secure a semi-final ticket.

That home advantage and the positive signs coming from the opening leg are reasons to believe, but a pretty Villa squad still stands in the way.

Villa will want to play well early in order to take the home side out of the game.

As usual the cops will look to Juuko and Mike Sserumaga for scoring punch while Villa could turn to Joram Katende, whose success against his former side is well documented. Katende struck twice against Police in their two league meetings last season.

Villa will then depart the following day for the Tusker Cup in Tanzania.
