A murder suspect, who the Police in Nakasongola district presumed dead and was taken to the mortuary, sneaked out at night and fled. Ben Nsamba, a casual labourer of Wakikoli village in Kakooge sub-county, is on the run after he escaped from Nakasongola Mortuary last week.

The district Police chief, Charles Awiyo, said they were looking for the fugitive suspect, who they suspect to have cut his wife to death.

Awiyo said Nsamba hacked Sarah Namata to death, and later pierced his stomach using the same weapon, in an attempt to kill himself, but failed.

He said they found Nsamba lying motionless beside his wife’s body, and assumed he was dead. The Police chief added that the couple was earlier involved in a domestic quarrel, after which Namata packed her belongings and left.

Quoting a witness, Awiyo said Nsamba followed his wife and allegedly killed her.
