MOST of us have pieces of fabric that were given to us ages ago and have never been used. We find them from time to time and keep promising ourselves that we’ll use them to make something dramatic and beautiful. Well here’s your opportunity to transform that piece of material into something that’s wearable and unique to you.

The outfit:
This outfit is suitable for occasions that require one to dress up. African brocade (bazaar) would make this a decidedly unique outfit.

Tip:
The fuller the mermaid flare of the skirt, the more the hips are emphasised. If one desires to draw attention away from the hips, the mermaid flare should start higher along the thigh.

Fabric
requirements:
l 1 ½ metres of a double width fabric for the contrast.
l 2 ½ metres of double width fabric for the dominant fabric. (The taller the figure, the more the fabric required).
