South Africa-based goalkeeper Posnet Omwony has been recalled to the national soccer team as cover for injured first choice Dennis Onyango
SuperSport goalkeeper Onyango had knee surgery early this week and is likely to be out of action for two months.
Omwony helped Bloemfontein Celtic beat Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Charity Cup final in Johannesburg over the weekend.
He last featured for Cranes in their 3-2 loss in a friendly to Libya last year in which he was blamed for the defeat.
Soccer federation vice president Asumani Lubowa told the Front Page Microfinance press conference at Mengo yesterday: “We could not have more than four goalkeepers on the team. That is the reason he [Omwony] had been left out, nothing else.â€
The team assembles for the must-win Nations Cup qualifier against Niger on Monday.

* KCC coach Jackson Mayanja hopes to bring an end to a miserable season for his club by winning the Kakungulu Cup final tomorrow.
“This is the time when we really need support but there are no funds. We have to do with a single training a day but we shall use whatever resources we have to see that we do not lose our target,†said Mayanja.
Mayanja faces his former clubmate at KCC,- Sam Ssimbwa, who has transformed Express into a lethal outfit in only two months.
