RETIRED army officer Maj. Okwir Rwaboni has launched a tourism company. “I have not been a businessman for a long time. I have been a soldier and politician. Since I retired from the army at the age of 29, I decided I can retire from politics before I reach 40,” Rwaboni said.

The company, Rwenzori Peak Tours and Travel, will specialise in cultural, business and eco-tourism. The launch, which took place at Le Chateau Restaurant in Kansanga, Kampala, was also the launch of the company’s website.

Rwaboni who spent the last six years in exile in Scotland is the young brother of the late Brigadier Noble Mayombo.

“When I came back from Scotland in January, I was discussing with Noble what business I should do. I told him publishing then he asked me whether I was going to write bad things about the Government. Then I told him tourism,” Rwaboni explained.

The company was subsequently incorporated with Mayombo as a shareholder. Other shareholders are Johan Van Hecke, MP of the European Parliament, David Olimi, Isaac Tungakwo and Mary Tungakwo.
