THE Police chief, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura, has reshuffled the Police Force, making six new appointments. The Commandant of the Mobile Police Patrol Unit, Grace Turyagumanawe, was shifted to the Police headquarters to handle operations.
He replaced Commissioner of Police Godfrey Bangirana, who now heads the new Police Professional Standards Unit. Turyagumanawe will be deputised by Senior Superintendent of Police, Nyakuni Onzima.
Police spokesman Asan Kasingye yesterday said the move was intended to fill the gaps in the force. “The appointments were made last week and took immediate effect,†Kasingye said and added, “This was because new units were created and some people moved leaving some gaps.â€
Nyakuni replaced Haji Moses Balimwoyo, now the acting deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID).
Balimwoyo replaced Okoth Ochola, currently the acting director of the CID. He replaced Elizabeth Kuteesa following her secondment to Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France.
Christopher Obache, the former deputy commandant of the Mobile Police Patrol Unit, replaced Turyagumanawe as the acting commandant of the unit.
