NVEssence, thanks lots for all the news and interesting articles. However, I would like to comment on the article about the defunct half-slip. I would like to differ with the girls who gave their reasons for making this very thin piece of fabric obsolete.

NVEssence, thanks lots for all the news and interesting articles. However, I would like to comment on the article about the defunct half-slip. I would like to differ with the girls who gave their reasons for making this very thin piece of fabric obsolete.

First, the half-slip has never outlived its usefulness. Believe me, a lady will definitely have a half-slip in her wardrobe.

Half-slips have never really been worn to hide panty lines. The main purpose of a half-slip is to be worn with flimsy, sheer, see-through fabric so that it gives the flimsy fabric the cover it lacks so as not to expose a woman’s lower body silhouette or even underwear.

(Please note: with or without a half-slip, panty-lines will show and even with a G-string, if the dress is a see-through, one needs to wear a half-slip.)

In the case of trousers, for those who are not in the know, there are some half-slips (boy-short slips) that are made to serve the same purpose.

I understand the point that half-slips can be bothersome and hot, but they come in cotton and silk which are more comfortable.

They also make half-slips that are long enough to cover the purpose and yet short enough not to slip down and show.

Unless you are advertising or putting out a message that you are in desperate need of “something”, the sight of one’s legs/thighs from a distance as seen through your clothes isn’t appealing if it’s not in the privacy of your bedroom.

On that note, let it be known that the half-slip isn’t old-fashioned and it’s still an “in thing”; ask the real ladies and you will know. Don’t be fooled by the ever changing dress codes; certain garments are here to stay no matter the trend. Of course, the quality and the designs of the half-slip is modified with time but it’s still a half-slip.

“A half-slip is a fine thin piece of fabric that separates classy from trashy; a lady from a whore.” For all the ladies out there who know style, you know what am talking about.

Thanks A.Kay
