EVERY stylish lady wants nails to be proud of. Beautiful nails accentuate your hands and add an aura of elegance to the total you. While some women have no trouble growing their nails long and healthy, to others it’s a nightmare.
With acrylic nails on the market, it’s no longer hard for any lady to attain the nails of her dreams. “These nails look more natural than press-on fake ones,†says Rose Asiimwe, who adds that she cannot live without them.
Besides being beautiful, acrylic nails are incredibly strong and can withstand any hard chores like washing. “They are made of hard and durable material which doesn’t easily split, crack or chip like our natural nails,†explains Angela Chai, a professional beautician at J&V beauty parlour and a nail expert.
Acrylic nails come with many more advantages. One can shape them in any way — rounded, pointed or square. They are also easy to maintain because one needs to go to a nail technician only once a month for refilling. They are also an easy remedy for sisters who want to conceal badly bitten or short nails. “Wearing acrylic nails is a good way of giving your natural nails time to grow,†Chai says.
However, all is not rosy for those wearing acrylic nails. Maureen Namatta says acrylic ruined her natural nails. Before acrylic nails are done, your natural nails have to be polished with an electric file. This weakens the natural nails. “My nails actually look ugly now and I’m forced to use acrylic layers all the time,†she laments.
Some acrylic is made of cheap and low quality material that can rip your natural nails off making them susceptible to infection. Chai explains that sometimes, the glue that is used can store fungus. This can only be avoided if one goes to a qualified nail technician. So before you make the decision to go for it, weigh the implications.
