The Egyptian government has donated agricultural machinery worth sh60m to the district. The minister of state for livestock, Bright Rwamirama, said the equipment would boost the Plan for Modernisation of Agriculture. Speaking at the handover of the equipment in Kampala last week, the minister said Yumbe was selected because its terrain was similar to that of Egypt.

MTN fights malaria

MTN, a telecommunications company and the Ministry of Health have partnered in the fight against malaria. MTN staff donated and hang mosquito nets against each bed in the maternity and children’s wards at Gulu Hospital. The company’s internal communication officer, Rachel Mulinde, said the nets were collected through MTN’s 21-day Yellow Care exercise.
