THE New Vision has launched a Biology and Chemistry revision textbook for O’ Level candidates. Another one containing Physics and Mathematics was released last month, and is still on the market.

Dubbed Pass O’ Level, both text books contain questions and answers in the subjects and are strongly recommended for students in Senior Three and Four.

The books are a compilation of question revision material published in The New Vision in 2005 and 2006, following numerous requests from teachers, students and parents.

The colourful illustrations and pictures in the original Pass O’ Level inserts have been maintained, but enhanced to make them captivating for the learners.
Copies are available at The New Vision’s outlets, offices and agents countrywide. Each book costs sh12,000.

In her keynote address, the deputy editor-in-chief, Barbara Kaija, said the books would benefit thousands of Ugandan students who would otherwise find it difficult to access one-to-one professional guidance during their revision time.

“Now in durable print, both rural and urban students can access this quality revision material,” Kaija’s keynote reads.
She thanked the education minister, Namirembe Bitamazire, for supporting the media as a partner in education.

Emmanuel Ngerageze, a senior teacher and head of the Newspapers in Education project said: “The books have special topics, with ready answers; the language used in the exercises has been simplified and the students will definitely benefit.”

“The questions are very well-illustrated, the same way the public examinations normally are. This makes it more helpful and applicable to students,” Ngerageze added.

Readers who are unable to access the books can call The New Vision switchboard on 041 337000 to have them delivered to their specific locations.

Produced by a team of brilliant senior teachers, Pass O’ Level can be used by any teacher in a classroom setting or by learners in informal discussion groups.
It is also a useful guide for individual learners to study or use the ‘test-yourself’ approach.

The New Vision has also published the Pass PLE, revision textbooks for primary school candidates.
