EAGLES Nest SS boys stormed the semi-finals of the Sprite Schools Basketball Championship after overcoming Makerere College School 55-39 yesterday.

Lazarus Kamulete guided the Eagles to their third consecutive victory with 26 points while Emmanuel Bako sunk in eight.

However, Yosia Seguya and David Ochaya also marginally floated Makerere College to the last four with 11 and eight points respectively.

Eagles Nest, who beat hosts St. Joseph Technical College and Old Kampala SS 56-22 and 40-33 in the other preliminaries, face off with Bugema Adventist SS in the first semi-final.

Makerere College takes on defending champions Lubiri High School in the other.

The girls’ category that remains open in the absence of holders Crane High, again has Eagles Nest leading the chart.

Others that had virtually booked semi-final berths by late yesterday are Makerere College, Mary Hill and Bugema.

FIVE-TIME national basketball league champions Mogas Falcons, face the daunting task of defeating the unbeaten UCU Canons today in their quest for a play-off slot, Charles Mutebi reports.

The Falcons need to win all their remaining six games if they are to claim the last play-off spot.

But Falcons would never have prayed for the timing of a tie against UCU, who are on course to becoming the first team to finish the regular season unbeaten.

Falcons have never failed to qualify for the post season. But the long and continued absence of former league MVPs Henry Malinga and Sam Obol has left them two places outside the play-offs, caught in a tight four-horse race.

Defending champions Nkumba Marines and Miracle, who also battle on Sunday, will each be going for a win to stretch their advantage over the Falcons in the play-off race.
