THE government has approved Mukono town council’s plan for a municipality status.
THE government has approved Mukono town council’s plan for a municipality status, Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga, the mayor, has said, reports Joel Ogwang.
“We matched all requirements provided for in the local government Act for a municipality and the government approved it,†he said.
Ssenyonga told journalists at his office on thursday that Mukono would be a municipality starting in the 2006 financial year. He said he would bring services closer to the people.
Mukono town council and sub-county authorities are, however, locked up in a row over the location of the headquarters.
