AIBA’s latest fight rules will be applied to counter scoring controversies that usually mar local boxing’s biggest event, the National Seniors Open. The open starts today at Lugogo.

Five judges instead of the usual three will be used in each fight in the week-long competition.

Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation secretary Sande Musoke said they have also planned for tie-breakers. “Such situations will be catered for by an additional panel of three judges who will also be scoring as the fight progresses,” explained Musoke.

The boxing gala has attracted a record 180 boxers from 19 clubs.
The battle for honours will be led by defending champions KBC, Lukanga, Kololo High and fast emerging East Coast.
