THE possibility of the Democratic Party (DP) entering into an alliance with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is not a problem.

THE possibility of the Democratic Party (DP) entering into an alliance with the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is not a problem.
Alliance with FDC and any other political parties is not a problem nor is it an issue now. The question is: When will DP grow and avoid uncalled for alliances. I believe it is time for DP to reach to all sections of the society and preach their gospel.
Compared to other political parties ,DP is the most credible party to fully transform the country. UPC had their time and we do appreciate the positive contribution they made.
However, a lot of things did not go right and the populace has mixed feelings about them.
FDC were in bed with NRM when our parastatals were being sold and are among the architects of bad laws that DP’s Ssemogerere challenged the courts.
NRM should be talking about their achievements, which are difficult to see, instead of the numerous pledges there are making. This leaves DP to be given a chance.
But DP must convince the population that we deserve the chance, we ought to show the way. The track record of DP members in different ministries and parastatals is very exemplary and clear.
People like John Kawanga, Damiano Lubega, Robert Kitariko, Ssebaana Kizito, Zachary Olum, Wasswa Lule, Prof Mukiibi, John Kakooza and others left good records in their former offices. We can make an alliance with FDC or other credible political parties, but with a lot of caution.
DP has been used for long. Yet we have machinery, a countrywide network, trust, the will and personnel to delivery a winning team, save the country and lead by example.
We need a party that will think of Uganda of today, tomorrow and the day after. In line with the the party motto “Truth and Justice†coupled with the national motto “For God and My Country,†DP will lead and not rule Uganda. It will fulfil the fundamental change in all spheres of life economically socially and politically.
FDC has a few patriotic Ugandans who have really worked for the country and their track record is exemplary. They can ally with DP and liberate Uganda. The new National Executive Committee (NEC) of DP needs a lot of guidance too.
The party needs all its available personnel deep in the rural areas to deliver the long overdue victory for the party and the nation. It should not be the rule rather than the exception for DP to support other parties.
