NEW Year’s celebrations and prayers at Miracle Centre Cathedral, Rubaga, turned into a semi-political rally. Pastor Robert Kayanja went ahead to impart some shrewd political advice and prophesies.

He said Uganda did not need to look to other nations for survival. “The Bible clearly says that, ‘Blessed is a nation whose God is the Lord.” God is going to use Uganda to prove his greatness to other nations,” Kayanja said.

He said the glory of God was going to cover Uganda, its neighbouring countries, wipe out the begging culture and politicians were going to get born-again.

On Easter Sunday last year, Kayanja prophesied that, “There are going to be five candidates who will stand, two will drop off, one will die and of the three who will remain the winner will get 61.8%,”he said. He repeated this.

Kayanja said, “Only those candidates that are favouring the Lord’s cause shall win the 2006 elections at whatever level,” he added.

The two latest entrants in the Kampala mayoral race Pastor Peter Ssematimba and Wilson Kyambadde emphasised that it was time for the children of God to take charge of the city.

The new year was welcomed in style with fireworks lighting up the skies.
