THE Germans have hailed Uganda’s soccer fraternity for voting wisely at the last FUFA polls, and said they are eager to restart the Meridian Project.

FUFA used to get Euros 100,000 (sh215m) annually from their Germany counterparts-DFB in a deal in which European nations help African countries develop their soccer structures.

DFB secretary Horst Rschmidt has written congratulating newly elected FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa and invited him to visit Germany.

Rschmidt wrote: “DFB was hurt when the relationship between Uganda and Germany was soured by the manner and circumstances under which (Guenter) Zittel was forced to return to Germany before completing his mission and are now hopeful that the new regime offers a fresh opportunity to revive similar arrangements.”

Zittel (above) was a critic of the former FUFA executive led by Denis Obua.
