Consultants have finished feasibility studies and design for the Soroti-Lira road.
The contract for constructing the road is at the pre-qualifying stage and is yet to be awarded.
Un-informed critics had alleged the contract had been awarded and work was slow.
A senior project engineer with the Road Agency Formation Unit, Alidina Shabir, said on Wednesday the consultants had been selected and they were selecting the contractors.
“The World Bank has approved the feasibility studies and design and are now helping us evaluate the firms at the pre-qualification level,†Shabir said.
He said the contract for the construction would be awarded when the above processes are finished.
Shabir said the contract would be in two parts; Soroti to Dokoro and Dokoro to Lira.
