UGANDA Electricity Transmission Company (UETCL) will lay off some workers, F. C. Zesooli, UETCL’s human resource and administration manager, has said.

The lay-off is part of a staff restructuring exercise.

Zesooli said in a statement, “The board has decided on a human resource rationalisation exercise that will result into reduction of staff.”

Some staff will get termination letters soon, especially for being redundant, but they will be paid terminal benefits.
He said the board had also decided to terminate permanent employment and replaced it with contract work.
Staff who want to be considered should re-apply.

Zesooli said, “There are developments in the company that will affect employment, relationships and staff performance, so expect new outcomes.”
