MUKONO – Fishermen at Buvuma island have urged the Government to reduce taxes levied on fishing activities, saying they were losing business because of the scarcity of fish. The area’s information secretary, Ndugwa Miggadde, said “The Government has squeezed us a lot. We are no longer making profits.”

Sh700m power
KAYUNGA – The Government has released over sh700m to generate hydro-electricity in Busaana sub-county, energy minister Syda Bbumba has said. Bbumba said this while addressing residents at the sub-county headquarters recently.

Youths give
IGANGA – Uganda National Youth Development Project (UNYODP) has given out 20 bodabodas to youths in Luuka county to enable them fight poverty. The secretary general of UNYODP, Elly Bukenya, handed over the motorcycles to the beneficiaries. Over 100 motorcycles have been given to beneficiaries countrywide.
