MOSES Sebidde has won himself the 2005 national volleyball league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. The Nkumba University player was named for the prestigious award at a UVF dinner held at Al Fiesta restaurant on Sunday, reports Gloria Kyomugisha.

Sebidde emerged third in blocking and reception, fourth in spiking, 11th in serving and 14th in backcourt defense to earn the accolade. With 39 points and 17 faults in the voting session, he overcame opposition from Uganda Christian University’s (UCU) Tom Amou who picked up 39 points but had 25 faults and Isaac Omedo (Sport-S) who settled for third position with 39 points.

In the women’s game, Emma Ariyo emerged MVP defeating closest contenders Rachael Achieng of Nkumba University and Rosette Meya of Sparrows volleyball club.

Ariyo earned 26 points from the votes cast by the league team coaches to beat off Achieng (25 points) and Meya (23).

NCS general secretary Jasper Aligawesa presented the awards at the ceremony.
