LUKANGA boxing club’s recent victory in the Seniors Championship has landed six boxers in trouble at Kampala Boxing Club (KBC).
KBC has banned them from her gymnasium at Nakivubo stadium for boxing for Lukanga.
The renegade group is accused of conspiring to illegally transfer hard-nurtured talent from KBC.
Prominent among those declared persona non-grata at Nakivubo is Commonwealth-bound Atanus Mugerwa.
Others who have been served with instructions ‘not to step anywhere near the gymnasium’ include light heavyweight Twaib Mayanja, Asuman, Katende, Wyclif Muwanga (heavyweight), Charles Mulindwa (super heavy) and trainer Davis Lusimbo.
In a circular copied to Police and Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF), KBC chairman Ahmed Mbidde blames the boxers for being unruly and being disloyal to the club.
Mbidde, who is also an executive member of UABF, also accuses the boxers of being ‘too provocative, demeaning and rumour mongering.”
“Your expulsion takes immediate effect. Try your work out and talent elsewhere,” the letter dated January 10 reads in part.
Others banned by KBC include professionals Abdu Tebazalwa, Nobert Mugaga and Peter ‘Boyz Boyz’ Semo.
