THE Electoral commission (EC) yesterday maintained that Hajji Abdul Nadduli the Luweero LC5 chairman, did not present the required academic qualifications for nomination.

The commission also asked court to dismiss Nadduli’s petition and hold its decision that saw Nadduli out of the race.

Through their lawyers Paul Wagaba and Sam Sserwanga, the EC also produced minutes of a meeting they had with Nadduli at which he said he did not present a degree certificate at the time of nomination.

Medard Lubega represents Nadduli in the petition seeking an injunction for him to be reinstated in the LC5 race.

Wagaba said, “At the time of nominations, Nadduli did not have a degree certificate that he purports to have obtained from Bugema University and did not submit it to the returning officer.”

“Even the certificate from NCHE that he got after nomination was inconsequential for this election and that ground alone leads to the disqualification of the petitioner from the race.”

He said Nadduli should not blame the Electoral Commission for not giving him a fair hearing after he was called to the commission and held meetings with the EC chairperson, Badru Kiggundu.
