KAMPALA — The youth should compete for leadership positions instead of waiting to be called upon to do so, the Nakaseke district woman MP, Rose Namayanja, said on Saturday. She said the movement had politically empowered the youth but was also to economically empower them. She was addressing over 300 youth at the national youth conference at Makerere University. She asked them to challenge non-performing leaders.

Cleric urged to end row

RAKAI — LC5 chairman Vincent Semakula has asked Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa of Masaka diocese to help end the political wrangles among the believers in the district. “There is too much hatred among some of them and the cause of everything being politics,” he said. Former minister Emmanuel Pinto had just campaigned against the MP for Kakuto County, Mathias Kasamba, in church last Sunday.

Kakoba to resettle IDPs

MUKONO — Onyango Kakoba, the NRM parliamentary candidate for Buikwe North has promised to advocate for resettlement of people who were displaced by the northern war and are living in his area. He was addressing residents of Njeru East on Saturday. Other candidates in the race are Wagonda Muguli of UPC, Charles Kalazani FDC and Musoke Gonzaga of DP.
