New Vision’s dream date

What do lonely people actually look like? The people that describe themselves as lonely hearts and write into magazines or call into radio stations looking for possible partners, what do they really look like?

What do lonely people actually look like? The people that describe themselves as lonely hearts and write into magazines or call into radio stations looking for possible partners, what do they really look like?
We got to know on Friday night at Hotel Africana, when The New Vision new initiative, The Dream Date, was launched. The Dream Date will feature a different couple every week and they will go for a date funded by The New Vision. Afterwards they will be expected to tell us how the date went.
On Friday, 10 men and 10 females were invited to a dinner where the concept was explained to them. Hosted by The New Vision’s Dr. Love, Hilary Bainemigisha and Capital FM’s Dr. Love, DJ Ronnie, it was supposed to be an experiment where at least one couple was expected to kick off the concept. Except, it turned out to be a testimony of loneliness and broken hearts.
When asked to introduce themselves, one by one they narrated how lonely they were, what caused that loneliness and what they expected to get out of the dinner.
One girl, a Kenyan, explained how she had been used by men and cast aside afterwards. She broke down in the midst of her testimony, and only continued after another had testified. She later confessed that she was hoping to find true love. Another confessed to having never been in love and wondered if she would ever find it. A Kenyan girl admitted to having broken men’s hearts, but is still looking for that first love.
One guy, after introducing himself, said he was not working. He explained that he said that because every girl he met asked him if he was working. So he was searching for a job and a girlfriend.
Another girl explained that while she was in a relationship, she still felt lonely and was searching for the right guy. That was why she came for the dinner, maybe she would find somebody there. So after four hours, all the couples, except one, had signed on and will be going in turns for their dream dates, courtesy of the New Vision, Capital FM and Hotel Africana.
