Thugs raid
MUKONO — The proprietor of Ridar Hotel, Okware, was over the weekend waylaid by thugs who also robbed him of sh450,000. The regional CID officer, George Kanonko, yesterday said the thugs fled in Okware’s vehicle and abandoned it in Nsambya, Kampala. Meanwhile, the Police are investigating the murder of a Progressive secondary School student that occurred on January 30.

Kyanjo vows
KAMPALA — Makindye West parliamentary candidate Hussein Kyanjo has promised to empower the Buganda parliamentary caucus if elected. He said Buganda’s demands had been manipulated due to lack of a strong parliamentary caucus. “The kingdom lacks powers to collect taxes for development. As Baganda MPs, we should strengthen our caucus that articulates Mengo’s views,” he told a rally in Makindye yesterday.

He was on Saturday addressing a rally at Kyebando-Kisalosalo, a city suburb. He promised to ensure that roads are constructed and garbage effectively managed.

NTUNGAMO — Ruhaama parliamentary candidate Amanda Magambo has criticised the government’s Universal Primary education policy, saying it had not changed the living conditions of people in the rural areas. Magambo told a rally in Itojo sub-county that she would initiate poverty eradication projects and ensure that Ruhaama residents get entandikwa to fight poverty in homesteads.
