THE Electoral commission (EC) has launched an investigation into the academic qualifications of FDC leader Col. Kizza Besigye.

EC secretary Sam Rwakoojo yesterday said the EC had received the petition by Bugabula North MP Moses Kizige and had handed it over to the chairman for investigation.

In a letter to the EC, Kizige demanded to know why Besigye changed the name he used in 1967, Smith W. Besigye, to Kizza Besigye W.S. He believes that Besigye joined Kitante Hill Secondary School using the results of warren Kizza and forced him to adopt the name Kizza.

Besigye accused president Yoweri Museveni of engineering the petition, saying, “These are kicks of a dying horse. They have realised that they have no other option to fail me apart from removing me from the race.”
