UGANDA Christian University (UCU) Doves have started their preparations for the 25th African Cup of Clubs Volleyball Championship that takes place March 4-12 in Durban, South Africa.

The men’s team has however been hit by a lack of funds ahead of the nine-day international universities competition that has attracted university clubs from Kenya, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Seychelles, Mauritius and hosts South Africa.

The Doves require sh33m for air tickets, airport tax, accommodation, attendance fees and medicals.

“With the expenses of the event included in the budget, UCU have appealed to the corporate sector to step in and assist the team with financial funding,” said UCU public relations officer, Catherine Morris.
The team consisting of 12 players has meanwhile entered residential training at the UCU courts.
