THE Lukiiko on Tuesday had mixed reactions to the UPC presidential candidate Miria Obote’s Monday apology to Baganda for the party’s misdeeds.
Katikkiro Dan Muliika had told members that Mrs Obote had formally apologised to Baganda and that he had accepted the apology on their behalf.
Omutaka Nduggwa Ssemakula amused members when he said when someone gives you money to console you after the burial of your loved one (amataaba), that money cannot make you forget the deceased.
He added, “In fact that money can even hurt you more if the person giving it caused the death of your beloved one.”
Haji Mukasa (workers) said Muslims believe that someone who does not forgive will never be forgiven by Allah. He requested Baganda to accept Miria’s apology.
He, however, reminded members of the Lukiiko that it was Miria’s husband the late former president Dr. Milton Obote whose slogan was “we shall forgive but never forget.”
