SPENCON Services has started construction of the Government-funded power line in Kibaale. The line passes through Kakumiro, Kibaale, Kagadi, Muzizi and Mabaale.

Construction of the power line is estimated to cost sh14.1b and will last for six months.

Launching the power line recently, President Yoweri Museveni said developments in the power sector were a result of a well-planned policy to meet the energy needs of Uganda.

The power line is one of the Rural Electrification Projects that are being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

Godfrey Turyahikayo, the executive director of REA, said priorities were the district headquarters, agro-processing centres like Muzizi Tea Factory, health facilities, education institutions and water supply and electricity for information communication technology applications.

Spencon is also rehabilitating the electricity line to a pump station at Kakira Sugar Works. It is constructing the Hoima-Muteme 33KV.
