FAMILIES of 124 fallen Arrow Boys received sh360,000 each as six months gratuity from the army.
Members of the auxiliary force earn sh60,000 per month.

The militia group was formed by the Iteso to fight the LRA rebels who invaded Teso in June 2003, alongside the army.

The money was paid to the family members or next of kin at the Arrow Square in Soroti municipality, in the presence of the Arrow Group chairman, Capt. Mike Mukula and chief Arrow Group coordinator Musa Ecweru on Tuesday.

Mukula pledged that the Government would give priority to families of the fallen Arrow boys to benefit from the iron sheets that President Yoweri Museveni promised as part of the resettlement package for the displaced in Teso.

Ecweru described the Arrow Group militia as heroes who deserve to be recognised in the country’s history.
