FRANCIS Sembuya (left), the Sembule Steel Ltd’s managing director, wants the Government to support local manufacturers through purchase of their products.

He said in an interview recently at their Nalukolongo factory in Kampala that lack of government support discouraged innovations.

Sembuya was briefing reporters on their new hollow sections innovation mill. He said government departments, which should support local manufacturers by buying their products, import the same products.

“It is a challenge because it gives us a setback. We are requesting the Government to put up a policy to reverse this trend,” Sembuya said.

Sembuya joined other manufacturers by calling for a solution on inadequate power supply.

Established in the 1960’s, Sembule is the pioneer steel manufacturer in Uganda.
