PRESIDENT Yoweri museveni has attacked Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) deputy secretary general augustine Ruzindana for allegedly not representing Ruhaama County effectively.

Addressing a huge rally in Ruhaama at Ntungamo district headquarters on Sunday, Museveni said it was only his wife, Janet who aspired to represent Ruhaama in parliament.

“Since Janet came here, she tells me what is hurting you. She told me about the problem of electricity.

At Kagarama, power lines were passing over you, now I have directed that they work on it. Janet tells me that there is no telephone network here. How come the whole country, even Karamoja, has network and its not in Ruhaama. It’s because of Ruzindana. Ruzindana’s name is Rubuzabintu (causer of scarcity).

Others have telephone network and you don’t. Ask ruzindana,” museveni said. He had earlier addressed rallies in Rushenyi and Kajara counties.

Janet is tussling it out with Ruzindana for the Ruhaama county seat.

There were chants of ‘Museveni oyee, Janet oyee’ as the convoy with the first couple arrived.

The district chairman, John Karazarwe, thanked Museveni for sending Janet to contest. “We had been sidelined and divided under Ruzindana. Since you sent her, we are no longer orphans,” Karazarwe said.

Museveni said he tried to dissuade Janet from contesting for the seat.
He alleged that ruzindana used to bribe his way to victory by giving voters inducements sugar, salt and match boxes.

He said people should rather be given a hook and skills to fish than being fed on fish.

Museveni accused Ruzindana of deserting the struggle against dictators Idi Amin and Dr. Milton Obote to do posho business.

museveni defended himself against accusations that he has placed members of his family in government.
