CONGRATULATIONS for those of you who have attained a new level; senior one or senior five. You have probably changed the school and made new friends. Here, are a few steps on how to get the best out of the situation.

lThe first coping mechanism is to realise that you have climbed a step higher on the academic ladder. Show better sense of responsibility than you demonstrated at the lower level.

lIn an educational climate dominated by the quest for good results, set your goals and targets now. Attend all career guidance talks in order to make an informed career choice later.

lBe adventurous and read widely to meet the demands of the new level.

lIf you have changed the school, rules and regulations may differ from your previous school. Quickly, adjust to the new environment, obey the school regulations and respect teachers. This will make you happier than your peers who may try to resist change.

l Remember, punishments are meant to mould you. These vary from school to school. You will always be punished until you are old enough to live on your own.

lInteract with your teachers. Don’t fear to express yourself, this will build a good relationship with them.

lLearn new good values. Appreciate the teacher’s personal and positive attention. With these, success will be yours.
