THE East African Community chief did not vote in yesterday’s presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to the Bumbeire sub-county headquarters polling station electoral officers, Nuwe Amanya Mushega (voter code 08383727) did not cast his vote.

Mushega was supposed to vote from his home area Bumbeire or at Keirere parish in Igara West Kakanju sub-county, where his residence is located.

Attempts to establish whether Mushega was outside the country were futile as his mobile phone was off.

In his home area Yoweri Museveni got 291 votes, Kizza Besigye 111, Ssebaana 1, Miria Obote 2 while Abed Bwanika did not get any votes.

Mushega, who has been an FDC mobiliser, has has been decampaiging President Yoweri Museveni’s third term bid.

Voting in Bushenyi was monitored by FDC heavyweights including former energy minister Richard Kaijuka.
