A loser in the Pallisa county parliamentary elections, John Cossy Odomel, has petitioned the electoral commission (EC), saying the election exercise was poorly handled.

A loser in the Pallisa county parliamentary elections, John Cossy Odomel, has petitioned the electoral commission (EC), saying the election exercise was poorly handled, reports Nathan Etengu.

Odomel, the former Inspector General of Police, said over 8,000 voters failed to cast their votes due to irregularities caused by the electoral commission.
“The people could not find their names at the polling stations where they were registered due to the creation of new centres which they were not aware of,” he said.

Odomel, who lost to the incumbent, Loius Opange, demanded that the exercise be repeated in Pallisa county.

He said some voters were infuriated after being re-located to polling stations that were kilometres away. Odomel said out of the 11,677 voters in Pallisa town council, over 6,462 did not vote due to the mix-up.
