Two FDC coordinators in Gulu are being held by the Police for conducting illegal campaigns, writes Chris Ochowun.

LC5 councillor for Paicho sub-county Alex Otim and Ocan Laryang, the FDC coordinator for Aswa county, were arrested on Monday at Bungatira military road-block. Otim is also FDC secretary for human rights.

Politicians have demanded that the Police explains the arrest. On Monday night, incumbent MP for Gulu municipality Norbert Mao and other MPs-elect stormed Gulu Police Station, demanding an explanation over the arrest and detention of the two men. Mao was in the company of Gulu district Woman MP-elect, Betty Aol Ocan and Aswa County MP Reagan Okumu.

The district Police chief, Richard Mivule, said, “We are having them here pending investigations.”
