Energy explorer Hardman Resources has again found oil deposits at Waraga 1 exploration well on Lake Albert although more investigations are needed to quantify its potential.

Waraga is the second oil well Hardman is drilling on Block 2 in Kaisatonya area.
In January, oil deposits were also found in the first well, Mputa 1, after drilling its total depth.

A statement said wireline logs, wireline pressure tests and sampling tools were run to investigate hydrocarbons found in the well.

“After subsequent evaluation of these logs and pressure measurements, the hydrocarbon type is interpreted as oil,” the statement said.

The company has not yet hit its target depth, but hopes to intersect deeper objectives similar to the oil-bearing intervals in Mputa 1, before it reaches its total depth.

“The initial results, along with the drilling of deeper targets and planned additional testing of hydrocarbons at Waraga 1 are a strong follow-up to the initial discovery well at Mputa 1,” Hardman’s chief executive Simon Potter said.

“Combined, these results give us considerable confidence for realising additional potential in the region that will give strong impetus to an appraisal and commercialisation process,” Potter said.
Waraga is 19km north east of the recently- drilled Mputa 1 oil discovery well.

The statement says samples are yet to be recovered from the well because problems were encountered with the wireline sampling tool.
