Japan gives sh600m to schools

The government of Japan has given a grant of $336,203 (about sh605m) to three educational and one health institution.

The government of Japan has given a grant of $336,203 (about sh605m) to three educational and one health institution.

Japanese ambassador Ryuzo Kikuchi said the assistance was for grassroot human security projects proposed by NGOs or local government authorities.

Kikuchi was speaking on Monday during the signing of the grant contracts to support the education and health sectors of four local organisations and their beneficiaries. The function took place at the Embassy of Japan on Kyadondo road, Kampala.

He said the grant was to support St. Ann Ntuusi Senior School in Sembabule district with $82,510, Buhobe Secondary School in Busia with $75,321, Rukungiri Institute of Management with $85,715 and Nkozi Hospital in Mpigi with $92,657 to improve health service delivery.

Kikuchi said Japan would spend over $1m to fund projects in the scheme.
