MTN-UGANDA has handed over a three-classroom block worth sh25m to Kimaka Guardian Primary school in Jinja.

The building replaces a make-shift wooden structure. Speaking during the hand over ceremony recently, MTN’s marketing manager Rita Okuthe urged other companies to follow their example and make contributions towards improving the livelihood of the community.

Okuthe said MTN intends to provide the school with supporting infrastructure like furniture and a water tank.

She appreciated the efforts of soft power education, an NGO operating in the area, which approached them towards the end of 2005 requesting for assistance in improving the infrastructure of the school.

She thanked the government and local leaders for providing an enabling environment for private investors to make impact on community development.
The Kyabazinga of Busoga, Henry Wako Muloki, expressed his gratitude for MTN’s contribution in the region.

“We are sincerely grateful to MTN not only in Busoga but for the support it has continued to show in all other parts of the country,” he said.
