UGANDA’s leading daily, The New Vision, has had its cover price increased to sh1000 from sh900 from today due to the excessive electricity load-shedding and rising global costs of newsprint.

Sunday Vision will remain at sh1,000. The cost of the regional papers, Bukedde at sh600, Rupiny at sh500, Orumuri at sh500 and Etop at sh500 will not change.

“It’s very unfortunate that we have been forced to raise the cover-price to sh1,000. The cost of the paper has gone up globally and load-shedding is hurting us. We have been putting this off for a long time,” sales and marketing manager Tony Glencross said yesterday.

He pledged, “But we promise that we shall continue to deliver value for money to our customers. We now deliver a bigger paper with daily four pages for business, the education has popular pull-outs like PLE, O-and A-levels, the weekend soccer pages have been increased to eight pages from four.” Glencross said.
