FUFA will this year operate on a sh1.5 billion budget. Key components of the budget include the Cranes African Nations Cup qualification campaign and grassroot development.

The budget was one of the topics for discussion at the day-long retreat that drew all the federation’s executive and working committees on Sunday.

FUFA spokesman Aldrine Nsubuga and media committee chairman Rogers Mulindwa explained that serious efforts were on to secure a sponsor.

The officials said FUFA hoped to back up this funding by also generating funds from matches and from some of the federation’s assets.

“We are targeting full structures of the U-17, U-19, U-20, U-23 and the senior team. We shall also be meeting sponsors, fans, clubs and be accountable to them,” Mulindwa said.

Nsubuga said the money would also be used for capacity building of football referees, zonal, regional and national football activities.

The retreat at Mengo was a landmark session not only to commission FUFA’s working committees, but also synchronise their operations.

FUFA intends to hold the retreat quarterly to routinely review, sensitise and promote solidarity within the federation.

Meanwhile, FUFA’s disciplinary wing has promised disciplinary measures against Jackson Mayanja if it proves that the KCC coach incited the club’s fans into violence after their match with Express.

Nsubuga said the relevant committees are handling the matter and would soon make a ruling.
